Editions:

1)Datacenter Edition: intended for organizations in highly-virtualized cloud environments. Windows Server 2012 R2 Datacenter Edition is designed for small and large enterprises. Datacenter Edition allows you to create an unlimited virtual machine.

2)Standard Edition is for non-virtualized or lightly virtualized environments. The Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard edition of windows server is used for medium to large businesses. In this, Certificate services role, Hyper V, RODC (Read-Only Domain Controller), IPAM (IP Address Management), Data deduplication, server core, failover clustering, and more Advanced Features.

3)Essential Edition: Windows Server 2012 R2 Essentials Edition is also set up for small businesses. It offers features like Hype V, dynamic memory, and hot add/ram.

4)Foundation Edition: server small businesses with up to 15 users running on the single-processor server. This version of Windows Server 2012 is targeted for small businesses for up to 15 users. This includes HyperV, RODC (Domain Controller to Read-Only), Data Dissolutions, Dynamic Memory, IAMAM (IP Address Management), Server Core, Certificate Service Roll, HotAd Memory, Windows Update Services, and Failover Clustering.
